AI algorithms can already identify tumors with high success rates using images, but accurate diagnosis for inflammatory conditions remains a challenge. The metaverse offers opportunities for telehealth visits, surgical planning, and virtual training using 3D skin models. AI is being used for automated diagnosis and may enable virtual consultations with avatars. Virtual reality and simulation can aid in training and previewing surgical procedures. AI also has applications in aesthetic dermatology. While AI is expected to become indispensable in dermatology, it will always be a tool and not a replacement for human dermatologists.
